FOREST KINDERGARTEN UPDATE

A training opportunity had been made available for us to have two more staff trained in the Forest Kindergarten approach. Two staff from the 3-5 room will be starting their training at the end of February. When their training is complete we plan to continue with our strategy to implement a Forest Kindergarten approach within our service.

We are looking for Parent/Grandparent Helpers. Can you cook/bake? Are you a keen gardener? Are you talented in arts/crafts? Can you play a musical instrument? Any experience that you can pass on to the children will enhance their learning and development. Would you be interested in sharing your skills with the children by leading an activity in the nursery? Please note your interest with your child/grandchild’s keyworker, we would love to hear from you.

PLAY ON PEDALS

Play on Pedals is an initiative that provides the learning, skills and resources to promote cycling to children in early years settings in a fun and interactive way. Pre-school children will learn about the parts of a bicycle, how to fit a helmet correctly and the basics of looking after their bikes. Through a series of fun and imaginative activities, they will be helped to develop their balance and control skills, often using a pedal-less balance bike. All sessions and games are designed to support confidence, interactive learning and development of physical skills. Sam and Alison have undertaken the Play on Pedals training and balance bikes have been sourced with thanks to the assistance and advice from one of our parents. More information will follow as to when we will start the programme with the 3-5 children. OUT OF SCHOOL PLAY SCHEME

North Lanarkshire Schools are closed on 13th, 14th and 15th February for the midterm break. The Out of School play scheme will operate on these dates, please speak to a member of staff in the Out of School club to make a booking. Booking must be made in advance. Thank You

DESIGN A FLAG FOR OUR PIRATE SHIP

I am sure you all have been watching the building progress of our Pirate Ship. We are pleased to announce that our ship will be called The Black Bell as voted for by the children, parents and carers. We are now looking for the children to design our pirate ship flag. We hope you will be keen to get involved, pick up a flag template from your child’s room. There will be a vote for the winner and their design will be made into our pirate ship flag. Good Luck Everyone!!
STAY AND PLAY DAYS

The first of our stay and play days will be taking place next week. If you previously showed an interest in attending one of our stay and play days you should have received your invitation with your day and time. We look forward to seeing you all then.
